The City of Christchurch captures the best of what New Zealand has to offer.

At the heart of Christchurch is Cathedral Square, a busy pedestrian area well known for its market days, lunchtime concerts and speakers corner. Nearby, the gently flowing Avon River meanders through the city offering grassy banks lined with poplar trees and weeping willows.

Take a stroll down Worcester Boulevard and experience The Arts Centre, a collection of neogothic stone buildings housing hundreds of people engaged in cultural activities. Weekend outdoor markets feature stalls, performers and buskers. Carry on to the renowned Court Theatre, Botanical Gardens, Canterbury Museum, and Art Gallery - all within a few minutes walk of each other.

Close by is Hagley Park, a 161 hectare cultural and sporting playground. Located within the park are sports fields, the Botanical Gardens, running and walking tracks, and much more. Or maybe visit one of our beautiful beaches, Sumner, Brighton and Waimari, just to name a few, with seaside cafes and shops as well as a Pier to amble along.

Getting around the inner city is easy as there is relatively little traffic and the streets are wide and flat, making them perfect for strolling around.

Or why not hop on board the Christchurch Tram and ride the 2.5 kilometre inner city loop through fascinating buildings, vibrant shops and bustling cafes.

There are many other Christchurch attractions from the Port Hills to hot air ballooning, fishing to tramping, shopping to dining, jet-boating to golfing, and so it goes on - something for everyone.
