About the Sports Services Team

What we do

The Christchurch City Council Recreation and Sports, Sports Services Team, assists Christchurch clubs and associations and event organisers to promote Christchurch as a sports destination.

The Sports Services Team endeavours to have a close relationship with these organisations and believes that by working in partnership we will be able to provide a positive sporting experience for all.

What we offer

The Sports Services Team can provide advice or assistance with researching, bidding and funding for national and international sports events.

This support can be provided in some or all of the following ways:

• Provision of event management advice to groups organising sporting events and activities
• Provision of local, regional and sport specific promotional material
• Provision of an advisory service on Christchurch City Council services, general sport information and regulatory requirements
• Co-ordination of the writing and production of bid documents and presentations to secure events and activities
• Assistance with the advertising, promotion and publicity of sporting events and activities
• Provision of Christchurch City Council written and verbal endorsement, along with Christchurch City Council branding
• Financial assistance towards the costs of hosting a major sporting event or activity.
