Event Eligibility

Eligible events & activities must

• Have a sport focus
• Be a part of the national or international sporting calendar
• Take place within Christchurch and/or benefit the city
• Benefit local communities
• Meet our key funding objectives

Eligible events & activities include

• Confirmed national or international sports events or activities to be hosted by Christchurch, be that one-off or on going
• Individual teams and athletes who wish to use Christchurch as a base for training
• Researching potential sports events that Christchurch could host
• Bidding for potential sports events that Christchurch can host

Types of events & activities that can't be supported

• Sports events and activities that have already been organised
• Sports events and activities at club and local association level
• Sports events and activities that take place outside the city and/or don't benefit the city
• Sports events and activities that have been financial supported by another Christchurch City Council funding source that financial year.

• Closing dates for funding
• An information sheet on how to apply for funding and/or inkind support
• An information sheet on event bidding and research
• Any further information

Not only is the Sports Services Team ready to assist sports organisations and event organisers with events and activities, it also welcomes individual teams and athletes who wish to use Christchurch for training.
