The Christchurch Sports Archive

Canterbury Museum and The Sports Services Team are working together to ensure the preservation of Canterbury's sporting heritage. To help realise this vision, The Christchurch Sports Archive has been established at the Museum. It provides a repository for Canterbury sports archives and memorabilia and as a lasting collection of sporting documents, sports wear, equipment, awards and trophies, and photographs.

Under the documents category the Christchurch Sports Archive welcomes minute books, competition rules and results, programmes, annual reports, membership lists, and even menus and tickets. Photographs, paintings, and movie films are also sought.

Items of sports equipment and sports-wear are also wanted for inclusion in The Sports Archive. These should be in good order and be accompanied by a history of its use including the name of the person who used it.
